Learn to surf at Cornwall Surf Academy.

We specialise in teaching beginner and intermediate surfing lessons for those aged 8 to adults at different surfing beaches in Cornwall including Holywell Bay nr Newquay, Gwithian  in St Ives Bay & Poldhu nr Mullion

Cornwall Surf Academy surf lessons are run by fully qualified BSA (British Surfing Association) surf instructors who are also trained beach lifeguards for your added safety in the water, the maximum pupil to instructor ratio is 10:1 for our group surf lessons but we also teach smaller private groups at the surf school. You will only be in the water chest deep for the first surf lessons and we at Cornwall Surf Academy provide all the surfing equipment that you will need including warm wetsuits. Surfing is an all weather experience!!

Cornwall Surf Academy surfing lessons begin with a beach safety lesson followed by a short bit of theory, teaching you how to surf a wave lying down. We then hit the water to practice what we have learnt before returning to the beach to learn how to surf standing up!! The final part of the lesson aims to get you surfing waves and riding them all the way in to the beach. Following lessons will look at gaining confidence in the water and surfing green waves. You can learn the basics of surfing on a half-day surf lesson or gain more surfing knowledge and become more competent on one of our longer courses. You don't have to be super fit to learn to surf!!

Cornwall Surf Academys surf lessons and hire is at Holywell Bay Holiday Park where we use one of Newquay's most scenic National Trust beaches at Holywell Bay. This is our primary surfing beach as it offers much less crowded conditions than are found on the main Newquay beaches and we can also offer FREE parking, changing facilities and hot showers. We also teach surf lessons in St. Ives Bay at Gwithian National Trust beach which is where the surf is best for those coming from St.Ives and west Cornwall. Our third location, surf dependant, is at Poldhu beach near Mullion, South-West cornwall. We also have a surf shop and hire facilities at Newquay Holiday Park and Mullion Holiday Park.

We offer great discounts on group bookings, including stag and hen, corporate, parties, families and other discounts including Parkdean Holidays guests.

Hire is included for all surf lessons but if you want to go surfing alone we can provide all the surf boards, wetsuits, and other kit.
